What to expect on your first office visit

Wear loose clothing that you can push up above your elbows and up above your knees.  Please eat before you come to your visit.  If you are a caffeine drinker, try not to have any, for at least an hour before your visit as it can make you more sensitive to the needles and it can make it harder to sit still & relax.

Your first appointment will take between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. There is no need to arrive here any earlier than your scheduled appointment time. During the first 20 minutes you’ll fill out paperwork. Please bring your insurance card with you as we will check your Acupuncture benefits, as a complementary service. If you do not have insurance, or Acupuncture benefits through your insurance, we have a number of other options available, including a sliding fee scale for those who qualify. These options will be explained in more detail at your first appointment.

After you have completed your paperwork, you will see the Acupuncturist for your medical intake visit. You will have anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes with the Acupuncturist to address what your specific needs are and how Acupuncture can help you.  To be safe, allow just over two hours of your time for this first visit.

After your first appointment, you will usually spend at least ten minutes with our office staff before your treatment, and you’ll want to budget about an hour for subsequent visits.

Please bring an interpreter to your first visit if you feel your English not proficient to communicate your medical information to us, thank you!
