Please
allow us to introduce ourselves:
We are a team of Acupuncturists: Carola Stepper, LAc,
RN retired, Deborah Kinnes, LAc and Nikol Clark, LAc
who share the care of our clients. All of us are Board
certified (NCCAOM) Licensed Acupuncturists (L.Ac.) and
hold a Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
(M.Ac.O.M.).
The team approach allows for input in your care from
multiple practitioners, opening hours Monday through
Saturday in the Gorge between both locations and uninterrupted
clinic hours, in case of absence of one of us.
We
all practice the same style of Acupuncture, Dr. Tan's
style, where clients can conveniently be needled below
the elbows and the knees. This style produces reliably
excellent and often instant positive results. All Acupuncturists
continue to attended advanced trainings in this style.
Carola Stepper, LAc, RN retired
I
was born in the US and raised in Germany. I returned to
the United States in my mid twenties and have lived in
Maui, Portland and Hood River.
I graduated as a Professional Nurse in 89 and
worked in Hospitals in Germany and the U.S. as well
as Home Health Care and Hospice Care. Later, I graduated
from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland
with a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
I
have continued my studies with Dr Richard Tan, inventor
of the Balance Method for instant results, a style of
Acupuncture that works quickly and effectively for the
treatment of pain.
I
founded Cascade Acupuncture Center, LLC, and am currently
seeing new and established clients in Hood River and
The Dalles, as well as doing administrative work.
I
love seeing our clients health improving and being
part of their lives changing! I also enjoy client education,
giving lectures, managing the company and holding our
vision to help as many people as possible to get well
naturally.

Acupuncture Seminars, LLC and teaches a one day
continuing education class "How to Grow and Sustain
a Healthy Acupuncture Practice" to Licensed Acupuncturists
and Acupuncture Students.
Deborah
Kinnes, LAc
I was born and raised in Michigan, where I graduated
from the University of Michigan. I then continued my
graduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh in
exercise physiology.
While
working in the cardiac rehabilitation department at
Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, I earned my massage therapy
certificate in 1993 and began a practice in Deep Tissue
and Cranial-Sacral massage therapy. Shortly after, I
gained my Master of Oriental Medicine from the International
Institute of Chinese Medicine in Albuquerque and Santa
Fe, New Mexico, where my studies included an intensive
exchange program with Chengdu University of Traditional
Medicine in Sichuan, Peoples Republic of China.
Before
joining Cascade Acupuncture Center I worked with several
very successful and established Acupuncture Clinics
in Washington and Colorado. Additionally, I owned and
operated my own private practice in Colorado for 10
years.
I
love working with clients to educate and guide them
to health and vitality through the use of Acupuncture
and Chinese Herbology. I enjoy working with many different
conditions which always continues to deepen my understanding
and fills my passion for this medicine.
I
look forward to being of assistance to you, in both
The Dalles and Hood River clinics.
Nikol
Clark, LAc
I
was raised in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains
near Leavenworth, Washington and have lived in almost
every state in the west. During my travels, I stayed
put long enough in one place to earn my Masters
Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches
Institute in Santa Cruz, California.
After
receiving my degree, I again resumed my traveling ways
and continued my education, in supplementary healing
modalities, while applying my Acupuncture skills in
several western states and internationally.
A
beautiful new addition to my family, my daughter Hazel
Rae, born in February 2010 in Hood River, has finally
brought me back home to the Pacific Northwest. I look
forward to setting down roots and to the opportunity
of nurturing relationships with both the local community
and clients of Cascade Acupuncture Center.
In
addition to my role as an Acupuncturist in the Hood
River and The Dalles clinics, I am also serving in the
capacity of Marketing Assistant and on-call office support.
I enjoy my varied duties which keep me both challenged
and satisfied and look forward to helping you reach
your health goals.
Lisa
Shirk
I
was born in Nevada, but have spent most of my life raising
my family in and around the Columbia River Gorge. I
graduated from Portland Paramedical Center in 1981.
I spent most of my professional life working for Luhr
Jensen & Sons in Hood River, OR.
I
am the Operations Manager at Cascade Acupuncture Center.
I love working in a place where the primary motivation
is to help people feel better and improve the quality
of their life. A family member was given a new lease
through Acupuncture, and its important to me to
let people know that Acupuncture is a safe, effective
and non-invasive care option that can benefit us all,
and which neednt be a last resort for our health
care needs.

I
was born and raised in The Dalles, Oregon. I have held
office positions in various western medicine clinics,
but have found my purpose supporting alternative medicine.
I am the office manager of Cascade Acupuncture Center
in The Dalles, and I enjoy helping people from all walks
of life attain health naturally and educating them about
how Chinese Medicine can improve their overall quality
of life.
